Mechatronics Instructor

The Instructor is responsible for fostering student learning by providing high-quality classroom instruction. The Instructor must strive for continuous improvement of the curriculum, learning activities, and instructional resources to ensure student success. In addition to instructional duties, the Instructor will also be fully involved in the institutional planning process and developing the goals and objectives of the assigned academic department.

  1. Demonstrate and maintain a high level of competence and expertise in the teaching field or subject area.
  2. Develop, implement, and teach courses to meet individual student needs and ensure an effective learning experience.
  3. Evaluate and record student performance and achievement in a timely manner and provide prompt feedback to students and the administration to ensure learning outcomes are met.
  4. Participate as a contributing faculty member of the College, including participating in planning long-range and short-term goals for the department and College, as well as maintaining regular office hours and participating in faculty meetings.
  5. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned, required, or directed by the College. The College reserves the right to assign additional tasks and to alter or reassign job duties as necessary to meet business and operational needs.
  6. In order to perform these essential functions, the Instructor must be present at work. Therefore, attendance is an essential job function.
  1. Associate degree or equivalent (at least sixty (60) semester hours in a planned program, including associate degree core) plus specialized coursework equivalent to the Mechatronics program at Wallace State Community College.
  2. Three years of successful documented full-time experience as a practitioner in the occupational, technical, or vocational field. Preference will be given to individuals who have documented experience in the areas of Industrial Mechanics, Automation and Controls, including AC/DC voltage, hydraulic/pneumatics, robotics, HMIs, VFDs, PLCs, servo controls, and industrial communications.
  3. Must have demonstrated competence in each area of instruction; teaching experience at the college level is preferred.
  4. Proficiency in curriculum development, instruction, student evaluation, and advising, and knowledge and experience with various instructional methods and strategies preferred.
  5. Skilled in the use of instructional technologies to enhance learning, and ability to adapt to and incorporate new and emerging technologies preferred.
  6. Experience with distance learning technology and practice is preferred.

SALARY: Based on education and experience commensurate with ACCS Salary Schedule D1 ($42,108-$94,363) of the Alabama Community College System policies. This is a nine-month position. A summer contract may be available (an additional $13,001-$29,184), dependent upon enrollment.
