The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Respond to maintenance needs in a timely manner.
  • Follow and reinforce established safety protocol, including machine lockout tag out.
  • Troubleshoot issues and participate in root cause analysis.
  •  Identify and resolve recurring maintenance issues.
  • Solicit feedback from machine operators to assist in the diagnosis of issues.
  • Coordinate activities with other maintenance staff members as needed.
  • Fabricate fixtures or hardware in support of equipment modifications.
  • Install and set up new equipment.
  • Assist or direct preventative maintenance activities.
  • Assist or direct changeover activities as needed.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains reports and documents of maintenance activities.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

  • 3 – 5 years of experience in the maintenance and repair of industrial equipment preferably in a steel processing environment’
  • Trained in general safety
  • Work independently with minimal supervision
  • Must have own tools, specialty tools will be provided
  • Must wear safety equipment, personal protective equipment, as required in areas to perform specific job duties
  • Able to help organize and maintain maintenance areas and parts room

EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE:

  • All prescribed trade tools – testing, safety and lifting equipment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
  • Lift and carry heavy objects, up to 50 pounds, on a regular basis.
  • Work in confined spaces and at heights, utilizing appropriate safety equipment.
  • Bend, stoop, and reach to access equipment and perform repairs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • The work environment is predominantly indoors, within a steel production facility, which may involve exposure to noise, heat, dust, and various chemicals.
  • The position may require working in non-standard shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, to support maintenance needs and production schedules.
