Mechanical Engineering Manager

Responsibilities

  • Develop and test prototypes, analyze performance data, and iterate on designs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (electrical, software, manufacturing, QA) to ensure product integration.
  • Select materials, finishes, and manufacturing methods (machining, injection molding, 3D printing, sheet metal fabrication) based on cost, strength, and durability.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation including drawings, BOMs, assembly instructions, and engineering change orders (ECOs).
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues in existing products or production lines and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ensure designs comply with industry standards (ASME, ISO, DIN) and safety regulations.
  • Support supplier and vendor communication for component sourcing.
  • Participate in design reviews and FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) sessions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 2–5 years of industry experience (entry-level also available depending on posting).

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in at least one CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Strong understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes (CNC machining, injection molding, welding, casting).
  • Experience with FEA (Finite Element Analysis) tools (Ansys, Abaqus, or SolidWorks Simulation).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication in English.

Preferred Skills

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience in HVAC, automotive, medical devices, or consumer electronics.
  • Familiarity with PDM/PLM software (Windchill, Teamcenter, or Vault).
  • Hands-on experience with prototyping tools (3D printers, mills, lathes).
  • Knowledge of DFMA (Design for Manufacturing and Assembly).
  • Certification (EIT or PE license is a plus).
