A person in the Mechanical Engineer Technician I position:
Receives technical direction from senior staff in the Mechanical Fabrication Unit
Learns to design and fabricate parts, components, and assemblies for biomedical systems using a variety of technologies and techniques, including but not limited to metals and plastics fabrication, including but not limited to:
- Manual and CNC machining (multi-axis mill, 3-axis turning center)
- Vacuum forming, bonding, polishing, buffing, grinding
- Sheet metal fabrication (e.g. waterjet, press brake)
- Welding (e.g. TIG, MIG, spot, plasma cutting)
- Laser marking, cutting, engraving
- Molding/casting (plastics, urethanes/silicones)
- Additive Manufacturing (AM, 3D printing)
Learns about the overall goals of Division’s quality management system (QMS) and, when applicable, understands and complies with specific relevant sections of QMS
Learns and participates in safety risk evaluation for work intake process with the teamDesigns and fabricates components of biomedical systems. Receives technical direction from senior staff. Demonstrates basic skills in MasterCAM programming. Competent in the operation of manual and CNC machinery.
