Actalent Services, LLC is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to support the design, development, qualification, and production of advanced aerospace hardware. This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys solving complex mechanical challenges, and has deep experience bringing hardware from concept to flight-ready maturity.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical design efforts for aerospace hardware, including PCBA enclosures and precision mechanisms.
- Develop CAD models, detailed drawings, and assemblies with strong adherence to GD&T and tolerance analysis.
- Drive hardware development at scale, from prototype through volume production.
- Define, justify, and document margins, test sequences, and qualification plans for space systems.
- Support DFM efforts and manufacturing process development by collaborating with vendors, operators, and cross-functional teams.
- Evaluate and improve manufacturing processes through research, tooling development, and material assessments.
- Partner with interdisciplinary teams (Hardware, Reliability, Firmware) to define scope, resolve issues, and optimize system-level trade-offs.
- Provide cost and production insights by analyzing labor, materials, schedules, and future requirements.
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 3+ years of experience with Siemens NX.
- 3+ years of experience designing and developing hardware at scale (PCBA enclosures and precision mechanisms preferred).
- 7+ years of experience in aerospace system development, testing, and deployment.
- Strong experience qualifying space systems, including margin justification and test sequencing.
- Proficiency in GD&T and tolerance analysis.
- Demonstrated experience in DFM and manufacturing process development, including research, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials.
Preferred Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience designing, qualifying, and producing PCBA enclosures for spacecraft.
- Experience with Siemens NX and TeamCenter.
- Proven ability to lead interdisciplinary technical discussions and drive clarity across engineering domains.
- Experience with issue-tracking tools such as JIRA or TRAC.
- Strong time and task management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to provide manufacturing decision-making insights through cost analysis, schedule review, and production forecasting.
