Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (ABET‑accredited)
- 3–5 years of mechanical engineering experience
- Strong background in mechanical product design, prototyping, and testing
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD
- Experience performing statistical analysis related to mechanical performance or load‑bearing equipment
- Hands‑on experience designing with sheet metal, flat steel, or tube steel
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- Familiarity with rolling equipment (e.g., rolling roof rigs for suspended access systems)
- Understanding of gear systems and gear motor design
- Client or field support experience related to installation, structural components, or field challenges
Job Summary
Insight Global is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for a first‑party engineering client in Delaware, OH. This individual will support the design, development, testing, optimization, and launch of hoisting systems and components used in suspended access and lifting equipment. The role has full ownership across the product lifecycle, including innovation, performance, manufacturability, customer experience, and cost improvement.

Product Design & Development
- Lead mechanical design, development, testing, and launch of electromechanical systems, assemblies, and components
- Translate customer, internal, and regulatory requirements into robust, manufacturable designs
- Perform engineering analyses including stress, fatigue, deflection, and load calculations
- Own New Product Introduction (NPI) processes, including design reviews, prototyping, testing, and launch readiness
Product Optimization & Improvement
- Improve existing products using customer feedback, field data, warranty trends, and manufacturing input
- Enhance reliability, usability, safety, and overall product performance
- Identify cost‑reduction opportunities through design simplification, material changes, and process improvements
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Partner with manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and suppliers to improve manufacturability and reduce lifecycle costs
- Support root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for manufacturing, assembly, and field issues
- Ensure compliance with industry codes, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
Documentation & Support
- Prepare and maintain engineering documentation including drawings, BOMs, specifications, and manuals
- Provide field engineering support as needed (approximately 10%)
- Contribute to proposals and product requirements
