Mechanical Drafter 1

The primary role of the Mechanical Drafter is to prepare detailed working diagrams of machinery and mechanical devices, incorporating dimensions, fastening methods, and other engineering information.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment, dies, tools, and controls using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment.
• Coordinate and consult with other workers to design, layout, or detail components and systems, and to resolve design or other problems.
• Compute mathematical formulas to develop and design detailed specifications for components or machinery using computer-assisted equipment.
• Position instructions and comments onto drawings.
• Design scale or full-size blueprints of specialty items such as furniture and automobile body or chassis components.
• Check dimensions of materials to be used and assign numbers to the material.
• Lay out and draw schematic, orthographic, or angle views to depict functional relationships of components, assemblies, systems, and machines.

• Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem-solving ability.
• Team player and detail-oriented.
• Basic knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
• Basic knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology.
• Basic knowledge of relevant computer applications such as CADD (Computer Aided Design and Drafting).

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 0-2 years of experience in drafting and designing.

The work environment involves using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment to create detailed drawings and specifications. The role requires collaboration with other team members to resolve design issues and ensure accurate documentation.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Rapid City, SD.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Rapid City,SD.
