About the Role
We are seeking a Design Engineer – Services Lead Professional to join a dynamic Steam Power Services engineering team supporting the Americas region. In this role, you will contribute to service engineering activities including outage planning, technical support, repair leadership, and design of steam turbine components.
You will collaborate with global engineering teams to deliver safe, reliable, and high-quality solutions across steam turbine service operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical guidance during outage planning and execution for industrial, fossil, and nuclear steam turbines (OEM and non-OEM units)
- Lead complex repair projects involving rotors, diaphragms, casings, valves, and related components
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for repair projects across cross-functional teams
- Ensure timely delivery of engineering outputs aligned with project requirements
- Support engineering execution for capital parts, upgrades, and technical studies
- Develop inspection and test plans for site and service center activities
- Lead design reviews, risk assessments, and product qualification processes
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective/preventive actions
- Collaborate with sourcing, quality, field services, and engineering teams
- Provide design support for form, fit, and function of components
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, delivery, and cost
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in steam turbine service engineering
- 2+ years of field execution experience (preferably in power generation)
- Strong understanding of steam turbine systems and operations
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with CATIA or similar CAD tools
- Knowledge of steam turbine components, inspection, and repair methodologies
- Hands-on experience with turbine assembly, disassembly, and startup
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Effective communication and project management abilities
