Job Title: Mechanical Claims Specialist

About the Role

Are you an experienced automotive mechanic ready to step away from the shop floor and into a professional office or remote environment—without leaving the automotive world behind?

We are seeking Mechanical Claims Specialists to join a growing customer contact and claims team. This role allows you to leverage your hands-on automotive expertise to evaluate and resolve mechanical service contract claims—no lifting, crawling, or tools required.

You’ll work with dealerships and vehicle owners, using established guidelines and your mechanical knowledge to determine coverage, explain claim decisions, and guide customers through next steps. This is an excellent transition role for mechanics looking for long-term career growth, stability, and work-life balance.

What You’ll Do

As a Mechanical Claims Specialist, you will:

  • Evaluate and process mechanical claims using automotive knowledge, contract coverage guidelines, and claim procedures
  • Review repair diagnoses and labor estimates from dealerships to determine claim approval or denial
  • Communicate with dealerships regarding repairs, labor times, and documentation required for claim review
  • Explain claim decisions clearly to vehicle owners, including approvals, denials, and required next steps
  • Guide customers through the claims process, including obtaining repair quotes and understanding coverage
  • Maintain thorough and accurate documentation using claims management systems
  • Deliver high-quality customer service while managing multiple systems in a fast-paced environment
  • Collaborate with fellow claims analysts and leadership to ensure fair, consistent claim outcomes
Types of Calls You’ll Handle
  • Dealerships: Verifying whether specific vehicle repairs are covered under an auto warranty
  • Vehicle Owners: Requesting clarification on claim approvals or denials
  • Vehicle Owners: Seeking guidance on what to do next for a mechanical issue and how to initiate a claim
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of professional automotive mechanic experience or equivalent mechanical experience
  • Strong understanding of vehicle systems, diagnostics, and repair processes
  • Ability to explain technical mechanical concepts to non-technical customers
  • Customer service experience resolving complex or escalated requests
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, especially over the phone
  • Detail-oriented with strong documentation and organizational skills
  • Comfortable navigating multiple computer systems while on calls
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Email, Teams, etc.)
  • High school diploma or GED required
