Position Summary
The Mechanical Assembly Specialist plays a key role in the build, verification, installation, and commissioning of custom automation equipment. This individual ensures machinery is assembled according to engineering requirements while supporting project schedules, quality objectives, and customer expectations. Success in this role requires strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, and field service teams.
Primary Responsibilities
Assemble and integrate custom machinery, tooling, and automation systems according to engineering documentation and project requirements.
Review technical drawings, parts lists, and assembly instructions to ensure accurate and efficient equipment build activities.
Conduct mechanical inspections, functional checks, and system verification activities throughout the assembly process.
Maintain compliance with company safety standards, customer site requirements, and established work procedures.
Communicate technical concerns, project risks, and schedule impacts to project stakeholders in a timely manner.
Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing assembly efficiency, quality, and overall equipment performance.
Work closely with engineering and manufacturing personnel to resolve technical challenges and implement design improvements.
Verify component selection and ensure all required materials are available and suitable for assembly activities.
Assist with workspace organization, workflow improvements, and resource planning to support project execution.
Perform testing, troubleshooting, and validation activities on subassemblies and completed systems.
Document assembly processes, inspection results, and project-related activities accurately and consistently.
Support equipment installation, startup, and commissioning activities at customer locations as required.
Collaborate effectively with customers, vendors, contractors, and cross-functional teams throughout project execution.
Participate in equipment qualification, acceptance testing, and performance validation activities.
Investigate assembly or performance-related issues and contribute to corrective action and problem-resolution efforts.
Demonstrate flexibility to support critical project milestones and evolving business needs.
Professional Experience
Several years of hands-on experience supporting the build, installation, and startup of automated equipment, custom machinery, or advanced manufacturing systems.
Demonstrated success troubleshooting mechanical issues and identifying root causes during assembly and commissioning activities.
Familiarity with both manually intensive and semi-automated manufacturing or assembly operations.
Experience performing machine setup activities requiring precision measurement, alignment, calibration, and verification.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, assembly documentation, and technical specifications.
Exposure to customer-facing project environments and coordination with suppliers, contractors, or technical partners.
Working knowledge of manufacturing safety practices, quality systems, and continuous improvement methodologies.
Comfortable utilizing a wide range of assembly tools, measurement devices, and installation equipment.
Education & Background
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred. Equivalent industry experience will also be considered.
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English are required.
Additional language capabilities, particularly within European business environments, are considered beneficial.
Additional Requirements
Valid driver's license and ability to travel as needed.
Availability for domestic and international travel to support customer projects, equipment installations, and commissioning activities.
