Job Title: Mechanical Assembler (1st Shift)

Job Description

This role focuses on assembling large cooling units using hand and power tools in a clean, temperature-controlled manufacturing environment. You will perform detailed mechanical assembly, including metal framing, copper and metal tubing, drilling, and piping, while following visual aids, diagrams, and instructions from leads. The position offers hands-on training, opportunities for growth, and the chance to contribute to a large, expanding production facility.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble large cooling units using hand tools and power tools according to visual aids, diagrams, and written instructions.
  • Perform metal framing, copper tubing, metal tubing, drilling holes, and piping work as part of the assembly process.
  • Utilize manual lifting devices and participate in heavy lifting with team lifts when needed.
  • Carry out basic, standardized, and repetitive assembly operations and labeling tasks with consistent accuracy.
  • Manually assemble inserted components per visual aids, verifying specifications before and after assembly.
  • Inspect parts and completed assemblies to ensure work meets quality standards and specifications.
  • Follow directions from leads and supervisors precisely and ask clarifying questions when needed.
  • Read and understand visual aids, graphs, schematics, and diagrams to guide assembly tasks.
  • Perform visual inspection and basic mechanical troubleshooting to identify and correct assembly issues.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety rules, including the proper use of tools and lifting devices.
  • Collaborate with team members on production goals and contribute to an efficient assembly line workflow.

Essential Skills

  • Previous assembly experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ideal background of 1+ year in detailed mechanical assembly.
  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand how components fit and function together.
  • Ability to read and understand visual aids, graphs, schematics, and diagrams.
  • Ability to follow directions accurately from leads, written instructions, and diagrams.
  • Experience with mechanical assembly, including tubing, metal framing, and drilling.
  • Ability to perform visual inspection and basic quality checks on assembled parts.
  • Comfort with manual handling and team lifting of heavier components.
  • Basic understanding of electrical concepts is a plus.
  • Ability to read and write to document work and follow written procedures.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working on an assembly line or in production is highly beneficial.
  • Familiarity with blueprint reading is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with mechanical inspection and troubleshooting is an advantage.
  • Ability to interpret and follow schematics and visual work instructions.
  • Comfort working in a structured, standardized manufacturing process.
  • Willingness and ability to relocate or commute to the Byhalia facility.
  • Professional references available to verify experience and work history.

Work Environment

The role is based in an extremely clean, temperature-controlled manufacturing facility. Work is hands-on and production-focused, involving the regular use of hand tools, power tools, lifting devices, and visual aids such as graphs, diagrams, and schematics. The environment supports teamwork and continuous learning, with hands-on training provided for key tasks. Steel-toe shoes are required as part of the safety dress code. No additional certifications are required for this position.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Memphis, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
