Description
Responsible for the mechanical assembly of components and packaging parts in preparation for storage or shipment.
- Uses hand held manual or power (pneumatic or battery) tools to produce parts within specifications.
- Applies labels and decals to parts using sample part as a guide and as instructed.
- Visually inspects parts prior to packaging and when required, inspects and uses tape measure and calipers on parts to ensure dimensions are maintained.
- Counts parts to ensure job quantity is accurate and production rates are being met or improved upon.
- Records production and indirect activities in manufacturing execution system (MES) to accurately report production activities including time spent, quantity produced and any rejected parts.
- Notifies Supervisor or Lead person about parts that are not made per specifications.
- Properly packages parts in designated boxes or on skids to make sure they are stored and transported without damage.
- Uses MES stations to produce move labels to attach to finished part containers identifying customer, part number, quantity, and shop order information.
- Identifies, labels and returns unused components such as hardware to Supervisor or Lead person after completion of mechanical assembly activities.
- Works independently or as team member to produce parts in most efficient manner utilizing lean methodology whenever possible.
- Cross trains through all mechanical assembly tasks when working as team member on a production process line.
- Communicates with coworkers and supervisor to receive instructions and coordinate job activities.
- Follows all safety procedures and wears safety equipment or apparel, as required.
- Performs all job functions to meet acceptable quality and performance standards.
- Ensures work area is maintained in a clean and orderly manner and company tools are returned at end of shift to the Assembly Supervisor or Lead person.
Requirements
· No prior work experience required
· Mechanical aptitude is needed.
· Basic math skills are necessary
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Previous manufacturing experience or familiarity with assembly tools is a plus
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Exert 25 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently
· Frequently required to sit; stand; walk; reach with hands and arms
· Ability to communicate with others and accommodation as required to listen to equipment and monitor paging system
· Accommodation as required for reading documents, prints and computer screens
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Typical metal manufacturing environment with exposure to powder coat paint facility. Active work that primarily involves walking, standing, bending and lifting.
