**The Volunteer Specialist is responsible for recruiting, orienting, training, and coordinating volunteers to support the Meals on Wheels program. This role ensures volunteers are effectively placed on delivery routes to maintain efficient and reliable service. The position requires consistent collaboration and communication with Aging & Nutrition Services (ANS) staff, Drivers, Program Coordinators, the Community Engagement team, and other Volunteer Specialist team members. Key functions include maintaining accurate volunteer and program data, preparing monthly reports to meet operational compliance and funding requirements. The Volunteer Specialist collectively contributes to sustaining a volunteer base of approximately 600–800 volunteers by coordinating daily assignments and supporting ongoing volunteer engagement to ensure uninterrupted service delivery.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
· While performing the duties of this position the employee is regularly required to answer a high volume of telephone calls.
· Deliver meals to clients as needed and may need to lift up to 25lbs. repeatedly during deliveries.
· Travel utilizing personal vehicle may be required.
· Extended periods at a desk may be required.
· The noise level is usually low to moderate.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
· Full Time
· Tuesday – Friday 7:00am – 4:30pm; Saturday 8:00am – 12:00pm and designated holidays.
· Evening and additional weekend hours may be required based on program events or assigned job duties.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications of Position
· Experience working with or supporting volunteers or customer-facing roles
· Own transportation, valid Colorado driver’s license and state- mandated automobile insurance.
· Associate degree in related field or equivalent relevant experience.
· Ability to adapt to a fast-paced operational environment.
Preferred Qualifications of Position
· Ability to work independently, exercise good judgement, and participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
· Experience working with databases, tracking systems, or reporting tools
· Experience in a nonprofit, human services, healthcare, logistics, or community-based environment preferred
· Experience working with or supporting volunteers or customer-facing roles preferred
