Description:

The Material Management Clerk II is responsible for providing materials management services to all Clinic departments and staff. Includes activities associated with inventory supply management, distribution and receiving functions.

Job Relationships
Reports to Manager, Supply Chain Logistics and Materials Management

Principal Responsibilities

  • Verify receipts, note damages and shortages, and complete appropriate documentation.
  • Pack and deliver goods from central distribution center to appropriate departments/areas.
  • Utilize handheld scanning technology to receive, track and process multiple inventories in a large distribution center environment.
  • Learn to manage a perpetual inventory, including daily recounting and documentation to maintain precise inventory controls.
  • Become certified in reach forklift operations, as well as skilled in the use of powered pallet jacks, powered pallet stackers and other specialized warehouse equipment.
  • Comply with the Springfield Clinic incident reporting policy and procedures.
  • Adhere to all OSHA and Springfield Clinic training & accomplishments as required per policy.
  • Provide excellent customer service and adhere to Springfield Clinic's Code of Conduct and Ethics Standards.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.

 

Education/Experience

  • High School graduate or GED as a minimum requirement.

 

Licenses/Certificates

  • Must maintain valid Illinois driver’s license
  • Must obtain Forklift Certification within the first 90 days of employment

 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Preference given to those with experience in supply chain settings with knowledge of requisitioning procedures, receiving documentation procedures, use of specialized warehouse equipment, and/or inventory tracking procedures. 
  • Must be a positive, self-starter willing to investigate and solve problems including independent decision making.
  • Ability to adapt to changing levels of work and changing priorities with a minimum of direct supervision.
  • Knowledge or experience with a computerized inventory and receiving system.
  • Good communication and mathematical skills.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Must possess manual dexterity for use of calculator and computer keyboard.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs.
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions.

 

Working Environment

  • Involves sitting and standing for periods of time working in a warehouse (distribution center) environment.
  • Telephone usage required.
  • Lifting, bending and stretching required.
