Job Title: Material Handler / Floorperson

Job Description

The Material Handler / Floorperson efficiently selects, prepares, and delivers parts and materials within a manufacturing facility and to designated external locations. This role ensures timely and accurate fulfillment of internal and external orders, supports inventory control, and contributes to smooth and safe warehouse and production operations on a first-shift schedule (6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday).

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret pick tickets, barcodes, and serial numbers to locate and retrieve the correct items.
  • Pick single-line and multi-line orders from storage shelves or designated areas with high accuracy.
  • Operate RF scanners and related warehouse technology to track inventory movement and order status.
  • Securely package items using appropriate materials such as bubble wrap and shrink wrap to ensure safe transport.
  • Update inventory systems after each pick and promptly report any discrepancies or issues.
  • Transport parts, supplies, and equipment between departments, warehouses, and job sites in a timely manner.
  • Load and unload parts using pallet jacks, forklifts, or box trucks with lift gates as needed.
  • Verify order accuracy, including item type, quantity, and condition, prior to delivery or shipment.
  • Maintain truck stock levels and assist with same-day repairs or installations by providing required parts.
  • Support warranty returns, excess material returns, and permit coordination activities.
  • Restock shelves and maintain consistent conveyor flow to support production and shipping schedules.
  • Assist with receiving activities, including unloading, checking in, restocking, and counting inventory.
  • Keep warehouse areas, production support zones, and delivery vehicles clean, safe, and well organized.
  • Support cross-training into material handling, parts running, and testing roles to enhance operational flexibility.
  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while operating equipment and handling materials.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, drivers, and production staff to coordinate material flow and resolve issues.

Essential Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 6 months of consistent work history in a warehouse, logistics, or manufacturing environment.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 80 pounds and stand for long periods.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with inventory systems.
  • Experience using pallet jacks for material handling.
  • Ability to perform picking and packing tasks accurately and efficiently.
  • Experience with RF scanners for inventory tracking and order processing.
  • shipping and receiving, including handling shipments and verifying orders.
  • Experience operating or supporting forklift operations (forklift certification preferred and can be sponsored upon full-time conversion).
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure order accuracy and inventory integrity.
  • Effective time management skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to safety and teamwork in a production and warehouse setting.
  • Flexibility to work overtime and weekends when required to meet operational demands.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience as a parts runner or similar role supporting production or field teams.
  • Experience in a production or manufacturing environment with conveyor systems.
  • Familiarity with material handling best practices and warehouse organization.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, physically demanding role with frequent bending, lifting, and walking.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new warehouse technologies and processes.
  • Willingness to cross-train into related roles such as testing or additional material handling functions.
  • Strong sense of ownership and reliability in completing assigned tasks.
  • Demonstrated safety-conscious behavior in prior roles.

Work Environment

This role operates in a warehouse and production environment with variable temperatures and typical industrial noise from conveyors, forklifts, and other equipment. The position is physically demanding and requires frequent bending, lifting, carrying up to 80 pounds, and walking throughout the shift. You will work with pallet jacks, forklifts, RF scanners, conveyor systems, and standard packing materials such as bubble wrap and shrink wrap. The schedule is first shift, Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with the possibility of overtime and weekend work during peak periods. The workspace includes warehouse aisles, storage shelves, loading areas, and delivery vehicles, all of which are expected to be kept clean, organized, and safe.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr.
