Market and Competitor Intelligence Specialist (m/f/d)

The Surface Technologies global business unit of BASF's Coatings division, operating under the Chemetall brand, is a leading supplier of applied surface technologies for metal, plastic and glass substrates. These specialty chemicals are used in many industries and markets, such as automotive, aerospace, aluminum finishing, coil or in the metalworking industry - supported by a large network of technical experts

In your role as Market and Competitor Intelligence Specialist (m/f/d) you will be responsible for:

Market Intelligence

• Assess market size and shares via maintenance and improvement of market intelligence tool with local sales teams, marketing management, and external market studies
• Own and improve segment-specific market indicators with Marketing Management
• Select and manage external market data providers and market studies

Competitor Intelligence

• Systematically analyze competitors’ strategies, portfolios, pricing, go‑to‑market models, and M&A activities and maintain key competitor profiles
• Coordinate insight generation with internal Competitor Intelligence team

Insights & Decision Support

• Transform complex data into clear, concise insights and recommendations for Management and Controlling
• Support strategic marketing with portfolio optimization, pricing guidelines, strategy reviews, and business cases for initiatives with EBITDA potential
• Work closely with Marketing Management, Marketing Operations, Regional Business Management, Controlling, and external data providers

• Master’s degree in business administration, Economics, or a related field preferred, or equivalent education and work experience
• Several years of experience in market intelligence, competitor intelligence, strategy, consulting, or marketing analytics
• Strong technical, analytical, and financial skills to support business and new product/application development projects.
• Well-developed customer relationship building skills, skills to prioritize, prepare, and close projects resulting in business success
• Highly motivated, self-starter, excellent organizational and people skills, flexibility to travel as needed, up to 10% of the time
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, German is an advantage
