Talley’s Pier 77 Marine is looking for a motivated Marine Technician to join our service team. We are a full-service boat dealership proudly representing Regal Boats, Yamaha Outboards, and Volvo Penta, with on-site service facilities and mobile service across Lake Norman, Mountain Island Lake, and Lake Wylie.

What You’ll Do
As a Marine Technician, you will perform diagnostics, maintenance, repairs, rigging, and customer-service-related work on a variety of boats and propulsion systems.
Responsibilities include:
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and customer-reported issues
- Perform maintenance and repairs on engines, outdrives, DC electrical systems, electronics, hardware, and related boat systems
- Rig new boats for sale and delivery
- Create clear repair plans based on inspection and diagnosis
- Complete repairs according to manufacturer procedures and service manuals
- Record accurate time, parts used, and detailed work performed on each repair order
- Communicate additional service needs, issues, or recommendations to the Service Manager
- Coordinate with the Parts Manager on parts needed for jobs
- Transport boats by truck and trailer or by water as needed
- Keep work areas, tools, service vehicles, and company equipment clean and organized
- Complete required online training and maintain or advance certifications with brands such as Yamaha, Volvo Penta, and Mercury
What We’re Looking For
The right candidate is dependable, organized, mechanically inclined, and able to work with limited supervision while still being a strong team player.
Ideal qualifications:
- Marine industry experience preferred
- Strong diagnostic ability
- Experience with gas engines
- Knowledge of 12V/DC electrical systems
- Mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to read and follow manufacturer service manuals
- Strong attention to detail
- Good time management and work habits
- Reliable, punctual, and hard-working
- Good judgment and common-sense decision-making
- Ability to communicate clearly with service and parts teams
- Trailer towing experience required
- Boating experience preferred
- Must have your own tools
- CDL certification is a plus, but not required
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license
- Clean driving record
- Ability to safely tow trailers
- Ability to pass a background check
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test
- Full-time availability, typically Tuesday through Saturday
