Manufacturing Materials and Production Flow Manager

Find Great People | FGP

Build it. Own it. Lead it.

Are you energized by complexity, change, and creating systems that didn’t exist before? Do you seek an opportunity to make a lasting operational impact? Then this role is perfect for you!

We’re seeking a hands‑on manufacturing materials leader for our client to design, implement, and own a major transformation in how materials flow to production within a high‑mix manufacturing environment.

This is not a steady‑state inventory or warehouse role. It’s an opportunity for someone who thrives in change mode and has successfully built materials or production‑support processes from the ground up.

Why This Role Exists

Our client is redesigning how materials are staged, sequenced, and delivered to production. Their current model relies heavily on production teams to pull and stage materials, but this role will centralize that responsibility, establish structure where it doesn’t yet exist, and create a scalable, data‑driven materials operation that supports complex manufacturing.

You’ll lead the transformation—and then continue to own and evolve the operation.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Designing and implementing kitting, FIFO, staging, and line‑feed processes that support production sequencing
  • Owning end‑to‑end materials flow into and through manufacturing
  • Leading a major materials and inventory transformation from concept through execution
  • Creating standard work, work instructions, and repeatable processes
  • Driving inventory control, accuracy, cycle counting, and variance reduction
  • Using data and analytics to manage complexity, identify risks, and improve performance
  • Partnering closely with production, planning, procurement, and warehouse teams
  • Leading and developing a team while remaining highly hands‑on

What Will Make You Successful

  • Deep experience in manufacturing materials management (not distribution‑center‑only environments)
  • Proven ability to build processes and structure, not just run existing ones
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity and pushing change forward
  • Strong analytical capability and personal ownership of data analysis
  • Confidence, initiative, and a take‑charge leadership style

Required Experience

  • Extensive experience in a manufacturing or production environment, ideally high‑mix or build‑to‑order
  • Background supporting production lines with materials, inventory, or operations leadership
  • Strong Excel and data analysis skills (pivot tables, lookups, complex formulas, reporting)
  • Experience working with ERP/MRP systems in support of manufacturing
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, operations, engineering, business, or equivalent experience

Nice to Have

  • Lean or continuous improvement experience
  • Experience creating standard work or documented operational processes
  • Exposure to inventory reduction, inventory turns improvement, or cost‑saving initiatives
  • Supply chain, operations, or project management certifications

Important to Know

  • This role is highly hands‑on
  • You’ll be building a structure while running the operation
  • Best suited for builders, not caretakers
  • Long‑term ownership continues after the initial transformation is complete
