Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Manufacturing Engineer to join our fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role focuses on ensuring continuous operation of ballistic helmet manufacturing Value Streams by identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving line stoppage issues. The successful candidate will drive process stability and efficiency through root cause analysis and corrective actions, supporting second-shift production goals.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and respond to line stoppages in manufacturing related processes.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with production supervisors and operators to maintain throughput and quality standards.
  • Update and maintain process documentation, work instructions, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, such as Lean and Kaizen, to enhance process efficiency.
  • Coordinate with maintenance and controls engineering for equipment-related issues.
  • Develop sources for and collaborate with vendors to develop specifications for tooling, equipment, parts, or materials.
  • Assist operations on estimating staffing requirements, production times, and relative costs to provide data.
  • Design, develop and implement fixtures and tooling that are consistent with low defect levels and low product cost.
  • Create and maintain accurate documentation of tool drawings and equipment design concepts, with R&D and quality assurance functions.
  • Provide engineering support to the production department to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems.
  • Lead the implementation into manufacturing of new, changed, or improved products.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot production processes and equipment.
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and root cause analysis tools.
  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with composite material manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with automated assembly systems and PLC-controlled equipment.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (Solidworks) for fixture or tooling adjustments.
  • Exposure to TPS/Kaizen methodologies.
  • Hands-on experience with process optimization and continuous improvement projects.

Work Environment

This position is on the second shift from 1-9 PM. The work environment is a recently remodeled facility featuring a game room area and an extremely clean manufacturing environment. The role involves overseeing a fast-paced manufacturing process that directly impacts lives. The day-to-day activities include spending 80% of the time on the floor responding to machines and setting up, and 20% at the desk. The facility embraces a culture of continuous improvement and innovation, with a focus on teamwork and collaboration.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cleveland, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $41.00 - $46.00/hr.
