This role owns the front-end technical development for custom walk-in diesel generator enclosure projects. The Applications Engineer translates customer RFQs and specs into AutoCAD/SolidWorks layouts, electrical diagrams, BOMs, and full submittal packages, then hands approved documents to Project Management and Manufacturing for execution.

This position sits between Sales, Engineering, and Manufacturing and is critical for setting project scope, assumptions, exclusions, and code compliance before production begins.

Core Responsibilities

  • Review RFQs, customer specs, and drawings for custom generator enclosure projects
  • Convert quotes into AutoCAD layouts, electrical diagrams, and assembly drawings
  • Develop complete customer submittal packages (drawings, narratives, BOMs, cut sheets)
  • Write code-compliance narratives and respond to EOR/customer comments
  • Define and document scope, assumptions, and exclusions clearly
  • Select major components and build preliminary BOMs
  • Support revisions through multiple submittal/approval cycles
  • Hand off approved submittals to PM for commercial execution
  • Partner closely with manufacturing to ensure designs are buildable and accurate

Must‑Have Background

  • Application Engineer, Sales Engineer, or Project Engineer experience with custom engineered products
  • Strong experience interpreting customer RFQs, specs, and drawings
  • Hands-on experience creating technical submittals for customer/EOR approval
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks
  • Comfortable working in or alongside a manufacturing environment
  • Strong written communication (especially technical narratives)
  • Ability to manage multiple submittals at once
  • Engineering degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Structural) or equivalent industry experience
