Position Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineer is a key member of the Operations team, responsible for developing, optimizing, and supporting manufacturing processes to drive efficiency and performance. This role plays a critical part in establishing production best practices and ensuring daily operations meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support and improve production processes, materials, and equipment
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, quality, supply chain, and production teams
- Lead and participate in initiatives to improve labor efficiency and reduce costs
- Develop plant layouts and optimize product flow using tools such as value stream mapping and bottleneck analysis
- Implement lean manufacturing principles (5S, Kaizen, Kanban, JIT, visual management systems)
- Design, procure, and maintain production tooling, fixtures, and equipment
- Troubleshoot manufacturing and design-related issues and implement effective solutions
- Conduct root cause analysis and drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Support new product introduction (NPI) from prototype through production
- Prepare technical documentation, work instructions, and process reports
- Lead process capability studies and continuous improvement projects (Six Sigma, Value Engineering)
- Train and support operators and technicians as needed
- Manage non-conformance investigations and implement corrective/preventive actions
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent experience)
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or similar certification preferred
- 5+ years of experience in high-tech manufacturing environments
- Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
- Experience with high-mix, low-volume production and pilot builds
- Hands-on expertise in CNC machining, MIG/TIG welding, and sheet metal fabrication
- Familiarity with cleanroom manufacturing environments
- Proficiency with CAD software, ERP systems, and data analysis tools (Excel, Python)
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and project management skills
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
