Role: Manufacturing Engineer (Automation, PLC, Robotics & Line Optimization)

Location: Liberty, NC - Onsite

Overtime: 25%

Travel: 15%

Pay rate: $55 to $60/hr on W2


Job overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated Manufacturing Engineer to support and optimize automated production operations in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring equipment readiness, maintaining operational performance, and driving continuous improvement across production lines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working in a collaborative team environment (supporting other Engineers, Construction Management Group, Technicians, Vendors, General Contractors, etc.) to achieve project milestones.
  • Performing machine trials and confirmation activities prior to daily line operations to verify equipment readiness and support a stable startup
  • Supporting daily production to maintain operational availability, yield, and overall line performance
  • Documenting major breakdowns, abnormal conditions, root causes, and implemented countermeasures
  • Leading and supporting structured problem-solving activities to eliminate recurring issues and improve process reliability
  • Partnering with production, maintenance, and other support groups to strengthen performance and resolve technical issues
  • Supporting the development of other teams by providing technical guidance and hands-on problem-solving support
  • Driving activities aligned with project KPIs, production targets, and continuous improvement objectives
  • Troubleshooting, optimizing, and improving automated equipment to reduce downtime and enhance line efficiency


Required skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or similar technical field or 5+ years equivalent
  • A strong understanding of manufacturing systems, production equipment, and line operations
  • Experience troubleshooting equipment issues, identifying root causes, and implementing effective countermeasures
  • The ability to perform machine trials, confirm equipment readiness, and support stable line startup
  • A disciplined approach to documenting breakdowns, abnormalities, and corrective actions
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a focus on sustainable results
  • The ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, production teams, maintenance, and other support groups
  • A continuous improvement mindset with a focus on operational availability, yield, and KPI achievement
  • Strong communication and coordination skills to align cross-functional teams and drive action
  • The initiative and ownership needed to support both daily operations and longer-term improvement activities
  • The flexibility to support multiple lines, projects, and technical priorities as needed
