Job Title: Manual Machinist

Job Description

As a Manual Machinist, you will operate various machine shop equipment such as millers, lathes, grinders, and drill presses. You will ensure production parts meet required tolerances and perform tasks with precision and care.

Responsibilities

  • Keep machine running properly and with sufficient production materials.
  • Communicate effectively with operators from other shifts.
  • Maintain and secure work tools.
  • Clean and maintain the work area.
  • Follow instructions provided by the supervisor and/or production lead.
  • Communicate any machine issues to Maintenance when necessary.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on machines during downtime.
  • Turn off equipment when not in use.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

  • Basic reading, writing, and advanced arithmetic skills, typically acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in one or more areas: CNC Equipment, Mills, Lathes, Grinders.
  • Experience using tools such as lathe, milling machine, drill press, and vertical/horizontal cut-off saw.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Manual dexterity for operating machinery and computers.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Experience with older manual machines, particularly from the late 1980s and 1990s.

Work Environment

This position is within a production/manufacturing setting that involves working with older manual machines and lathes from the late 80s and 90s. The role requires a hands-on approach with a focus on true machining, not just button-pushing. Employees are expected to adhere to safety protocols and maintain the cleanliness of their work areas.

$30-35/hr

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $62400.00 - $72800.00/yr.
