Lead a Laboratory Transformation
We are seeking an experienced Laboratory Manager to take ownership of daily operations, team development, and process improvement within a clinical laboratory environment. This is an opportunity for a hands-on leader who thrives in a change-focused setting and can build structure, accountability, and a strong culture from the ground up.
The ideal candidate will bring proven laboratory leadership experience, strong operational judgment, and the ability to guide teams through periods of transition. This role requires someone who is comfortable stepping into a fast-moving environment, identifying opportunities, and creating sustainable improvements.
The Opportunity
This leader will oversee laboratory operations supporting a small acute care hospital environment, including:
- Core laboratory services
- Microbiology operations
- Limited blood bank services (primarily emergency release support)
- Laboratory staffing, workflows, and daily performance
The department is currently undergoing significant operational transition, creating the need for a manager who can establish clear processes, strengthen team performance, and support long-term laboratory excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and oversight for daily laboratory operations
- Establish department structure, workflows, expectations, and accountability standards
- Lead, coach, mentor, and develop laboratory staff
- Improve employee engagement, retention, and team culture
- Assess staffing needs and support recruitment and performance management efforts
- Oversee implementation and optimization of laboratory instrumentation and technology initiatives
- Partner with clinical teams and organizational leadership to improve service delivery
- Monitor quality, productivity, safety, and operational performance metrics
- Ensure laboratory practices align with regulatory, accreditation, and compliance standards
- Promote a culture focused on patient safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field preferred
- Significant laboratory leadership or management experience required
- Demonstrated success leading teams through operational change or improvement initiatives
- Strong knowledge of clinical laboratory operations, quality practices, and workflow management
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a dynamic environment
Licensure Requirements
- Current Clinical Laboratory Scientist / Medical Laboratory Scientist license or eligibility required
- Louisiana Clinical Laboratory Personnel Licensure required or willingness to obtain prior to employment
Louisiana laboratory licensure is separate from licenses issued in other states. Candidates must be willing to complete the required Louisiana licensure process.
Preferred Experience
- Core laboratory management experience
- Microbiology oversight experience
- Change management and culture-building experience
- Experience with laboratory instrumentation implementations
- Blood bank experience is a plus
