The Plant Manager for Generation Assets & Joint Projects provides leadership and oversight for Tri-State’s owned and operated generation facilities—including Axial Basin and Dolores Solar Plants—and acts as Tri-State’s technical and administrative representative for key joint generation projects, such as Springerville Unit 3 and the Missouri Basin Power Project (MBPP). This role is responsible for ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant operations and representing Tri-State’s interests on joint ownership and operating oversight committees. The position also manages the ongoing stewardship of the decommissioned Escalante Station.

Solar Generation (Axial Basin & Dolores)

· Provide overall leadership and accountability for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation and maintenance of Tri-State’s owned and operated solar facilities.

· Supervise the Solar Supervisor and solar operations team, ensuring compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.

· Oversee operational performance, maintenance planning, outage coordination, and continuous improvement initiatives for solar assets.

· Ensure compliance with Operating and Maintenance Agreements, and Tri-State policies.

· Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and professional growth within the solar operations team.

 

Springerville Unit 3 (Generation Technical Representative)

· Serve as Tri-State’s technical and administrative liaison to the managing utility (Tucson Electric Power) for Springerville Station Unit 3.

· Oversee and monitor the operation, maintenance, engineering, budgeting, and contract administration carried out by the managing utility.

· Participate in strategic planning, negotiations, and joint planning efforts with the managing utility and other project participants.

· Oversee all aspects of coal delivery and inventory management for Springerville Unit 3, including tracking shipment manifests and quality reports, ensuring contract compliance, coordinating on quality or delivery issues, and maintaining accurate records for invoice verification and billing.

· Ensure Tri-State’s interests are represented in all aspects of the Springerville project, including compliance, cost control, and performance monitoring.

 

Escalante Station (Mothballed Facility)

· Maintain responsibility for the ongoing stewardship, maintenance, and compliance of the Escalante Station in its mothballed state.

· Ensure the facility remains in a safe and secure condition, meeting all regulatory and environmental requirements.

· Coordinate any required inspections, maintenance activities, or reporting related to the mothballed facility.

 

Missouri Basin Power Project (MBPP) / Laramie River Station

· Act as Tri-State’s representative for the MBPP, including the Laramie River Station and associated transmission infrastructure.

· Participate in joint owner meetings, technical reviews, and decision-making processes.

· Monitor project performance, compliance, and cost allocations; advocate for Tri-State’s interests in all MBPP matters.
