Job Summary:

Plays a key role in executing electronic health record (EHR) adoption and success programs through a combination of regional and system responsbilities. Promotes the use of EHR and related technologies to advance patient safety, clinical outcomes and financial improvements. Collaborates closely with leaders in the AH networks and shared services, provides support for market and system initiatives, and helps align Informatics to clinical operations and projects. Acts in a system-wide role in specific areas of training and support, large project planning and execution, enterprise application maintenance, clinical quality improvements and financial improvements. Uses the full network of informatics, IT and other resources to plan and execute meaningful, measurable improvements. Investigates new innovative approaches that use automation, data and analytics and AI to advance end-user experience and department operations.

Job Requirements:

Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in nursing or business administration or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Required
  • Master's Degree: Preferred
  • Five years' relevant experience with hospital/clinic based clinical quality, patient safety, and financial improvement programs: Preferred
  • One year leadership experience: Preferred
  • Electronic medical record (EMR) implementation experience: Preferred

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Clinical licensure in state of practice such as Patient Care Technician, Medical Assistant, Licensed Vocational Nurse, Lab Technician, Radiologic Technician, Pharmacy Techician, Nursing, Health Information Management, Healthcare IT, etc.: Required
  • Epic certification in informatics: Preferred
  • Medical Assistant (MA) or Licensed Vocational Nurse/Licensed Practical Nurse (LVN/LPN) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or State Radiologic Tech (RT) or State Pharmacy Technician (PTC) or Registered Nurse (RN) or Health Information Management (HIM): Required

Essential Functions:

  • Assists in managing overall EHR training, support and change management functions for clinical work force (physicians, APPs, nursing, ancillary, allied health, etc.) for the network.
  • Participates in network and system level projects, service line teams, governance groups, etc. to ensure EHR changes are vetted and appropriately resolved.
  • Collaborates with market leaders, clinical & operational executives, and other shared services leaders to help improve clinical quality, financial performance, and other company objectives through better use of EHR and related technologies.
  • Ensures informatics teams stay focused on improving end-user experiences with the use of EHR, data and analytics tools, clinical technologies (enterprise apps, etc.). Grows skills and expertise of informaticists in hospitals, clinics, and other service delivery venues. Manages informatics operations by establishing budgets, capacity forecasts, HR reviews, etc.
  • Undertakes one of the following system responsbilities: 1) acts as the liaison between system IT, EHR, technology vendors and clinical informatics for maintenance, upgrades, and change control for AH standard EHR and enterprise apps, including intake for new projects (generated by service requests), new apps, or new solutions (requested by business stakeholders). Invests in innovation and use of novel technologies to improve efficiencies in the domain; 2) works closely with AH IT applications and education teams, clinical practice & education teams, support teams and other associates to establish, routinely review, and improve EHR and related tech training, staff onboarding and user support operations. Invests in innovation and use of novel technologies to improve efficiencies in the domain; 3) partners with market, system and shared services teams to align with clinical quality, patient experience, and financial improvement projects and goals. Ensures informaticists are trained to assist in these programs. Invests in innovation and use of novel technologies to improve efficiencies in the domain; or 4) partners with IT, market/system and shared services teams to establish and execute a standard project framework for new clinic and hospital acquisitions, Epic connect programs, and any new large application/technology implementation. Invests in innovation and use of novel technologies to improve efficiencies in the domain.
