The following is intended to describe the core work functions of this classification. While the level and broad nature of essential duties may not change, specific work tasks will vary over time depending on the City’s needs.

  • Patrols for and removes trash and litter.
  • Cleans, disinfects, and sanitizes (park or City) facilities, as assigned.
  • Ensures facilities are locked and secure.
  • Performs grounds maintenance, including seeding, mowing, fertilizing, watering, and weeding, as assigned.
  • Inspects and repairs street signs, roadway striping, and other traffic or right-of-way implements, as assigned.
  • Operates street sweeper, as assigned
  • Provides scheduled and emergency traffic control setup city-wide
  • Inspects and repairs playground equipment, picnic tables, benches, and other park amenities, as assigned.
  • Digs trenches or assists with irrigation repairs, as assigned.
  • Applies cold patches, crack seals, and other materials to replace city streets, as assigned.
  • Performs routine cleaning, grounds maintenance, or basic equipment repairs.
  • Operates hand tools and light mechanical/electrical equipment as assigned.
  • Inspects premises for safety and cleanliness; identifies repairs needed.
  • Operates a motor vehicle to drive to work locations throughout the city.
  • Prepares logs and records.
  • Maintains compliance with safety requirements, applicable work methods, and procedures.
  • Performs related work as assigned.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or GED and 1 year of related (maintenance) experience or an equivalent combination of directly related education and experience.


Certifications/Licenses:

Arizona Class D Driver’s License. Arizona Class B CDL with Tanker Endorsement within six months of appointment. First aid/CPR/AED Certification within 6 months of hire.
