Job Description

The Maintenance Technician maintains and repairs production machinery to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation. This role focuses on both mechanical and electrical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and 480V equipment, while performing troubleshooting and preventive maintenance on conveyors, cutting equipment, pumps, and packaging machinery in a GMP-regulated environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair production machinery to keep all equipment running efficiently and safely.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical issues involving hydraulics, pneumatics, and related components.
  • Work with electrical systems, including 480V and 3-phase motors, to identify and resolve faults.
  • Troubleshoot and service conveyors, cutting equipment, pumps, and packaging equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) tasks on all assigned machinery and equipment.
  • Inspect equipment regularly to identify potential issues and address them proactively.
  • Follow GMP guidelines and FDA-regulated procedures while performing maintenance tasks.
  • Document maintenance activities, repairs, and PM work accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with production teams to prioritize maintenance needs and support continuous operations.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in accordance with facility and safety standards.
Essential Skills
  • At least 2+ years of experience in maintenance within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience with hydraulics and pneumatics on the mechanical side.
  • Experience working with 480V electrical systems and 3-phase motors.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Experience maintaining and repairing conveyor systems and conveyor-related equipment.
  • Ability to perform preventive maintenance on production and packaging machinery.
  • Familiarity with packaging machines and packaging maintenance.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to GMP guidelines.
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to work with tools and equipment safely and effectively.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • PLC experience is a plus but not required.
  • Experience working in an FDA-regulated environment is preferred.
  • Experience with cutting, cleaning, or packaging equipment for food or produce is beneficial.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment

This is a full-time role with two day-shift openings, working Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with the expectation of working most weeks six days and every other weekend as needed. The facility cuts, cleans, and packages produce, and the production environment is maintained at approximately 36 degrees year-round. The site operates under FDA regulation and follows strict GMP standards. Uniforms are provided after 90 days, and the work involves regular interaction with mechanical and electrical equipment in a cool, refrigerated production setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Smyrna, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $32.00/hr.
