Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Job Description

The Maintenance Technician applies best practices in preventive maintenance, inspection, diagnostics, and repair of production equipment, machinery, buildings, and utilities in a manufacturing environment. This role focuses primarily on manufacturing maintenance, with additional responsibilities in facilities maintenance, to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance on production machinery as the primary owner of machinery PMs, ensuring operators can focus on production activities.
  • Assist the maintenance lead and maintenance technicians with troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic systems and related equipment.
  • Install, maintain, and repair pneumatic and hydraulic systems as directed by the maintenance supervisor or lead.
  • Support diagnostics and repair of hydraulic equipment, servo-driven machines, and equipment with basic PLC and electrical components.
  • Carry out routine maintenance tasks so maintenance technicians can focus on projects and complex troubleshooting.
  • Perform fabrication, maintenance, and repairs on milling machines, heat treat ovens, walk-in freezers, hydraulic presses, air compressors, and vacuum pumps.
  • Support facilities maintenance activities, including basic plumbing, electrical, and HVAC tasks, as directed by lead maintenance personnel.
  • Inspect machinery, equipment, and facility systems to identify issues early and prevent unplanned downtime.
  • Document maintenance activities, repairs, and preventive maintenance tasks accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with production staff, supervisors, and other maintenance team members to minimize equipment downtime and maintain a safe work environment.

Essential Skills

  • 5+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment is ideal; candidates with fewer years may be considered with strong hydraulic and pneumatic experience.
  • Proven experience performing maintenance in a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience with industrial hydraulic equipment, including troubleshooting and repair.
  • Strong in hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Experience working with 480V electrical systems.
  • Ability to perform preventive maintenance on a wide range of industrial machinery and equipment.
  • Capability to follow direction from maintenance leads, technicians, and supervisors while working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Solid mechanical aptitude and ability to read and follow technical instructions and maintenance procedures.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with fabrication work related to maintenance and repair of industrial equipment.
  • Exposure to HVAC systems and basic HVAC maintenance tasks.
  • Basic plumbing maintenance and repair experience.
  • Experience working with servo-driven machines and some exposure to PLC-based equipment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, production-focused environment.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with supervisors, peers, and production staff on the manufacturing floor.
  • Resilience and the ability to work within a direct, straightforward team culture while maintaining professionalism.

Work Environment

You will work as part of a small maintenance team of four technicians spread across two nearby locations, with two team members planning to retire in the coming months, including one lead. Day-to-day activities are directed by the maintenance lead and technicians, with frequent interaction with production staff and supervisors on the manufacturing floor. The role follows a Monday through Friday schedule from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with some flexibility possible after initial training, which is ideally completed on the 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. shift. The environment is a busy manufacturing facility with a direct, straightforward team dynamic where colleagues may be blunt with one another, but unprofessional or disrespectful behavior is not tolerated. You will work around industrial machinery, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, electrical equipment, and facility systems such as HVAC, plumbing, and utilities

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Charles, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $30.00/hr.
