Job Title: Multicraft Maintenance Technician

Job Description

The Multicraft Maintenance Technician performs mechanical and basic electrical troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance on production equipment in a manufacturing environment. This role focuses on diagnosing issues with mechanical components, supporting reliable operation of machinery, and ensuring equipment runs safely and efficiently across multiple shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose basic mechanical issues involving gears, bearings, pumps, and related components.
  • Perform mechanical repairs on production equipment to restore safe and efficient operation.
  • Carry out preventive maintenance tasks to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Assist with more in-depth mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, including PLC-related issues, based on skill and experience level.
  • Support maintenance of PLC-controlled equipment by identifying basic control issues and escalating complex problems as needed.
  • Change out filters, fluids, and other consumable parts according to maintenance schedules and equipment requirements.
  • Use appropriate hand and power tools safely and correctly to perform maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Identify and select the correct tools and parts required to complete assigned work.
  • Work effectively in a manufacturing environment that produces spices, sauces, and breading, following all safety and contamination-control procedures.
  • Lift, move, and position parts and equipment components weighing 50 pounds or more as required by maintenance tasks.
  • Document maintenance activities as directed, helping maintain accurate records of repairs and preventive maintenance.
  • Collaborate with production and other maintenance team members to minimize equipment downtime and support smooth operations across shifts.

Essential Skills

  • Basic mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues in a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical repair, including work on gears, bearings, pumps, and similar components.
  • Ability to perform preventive and predictive maintenance on production equipment.
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting skills, including experience working around PLC-controlled equipment.
  • Ability to change filters, fluids, and other routine service items on machinery.
  • Ability to identify and correctly use common maintenance tools.
  • Capability to lift 50+ pounds safely as part of daily job duties.
  • Schooling in maintenance plus at least 6 months of maintenance experience, or 2–3+ years of maintenance experience without formal schooling.
  • Experience working as a maintenance technician or in a similar industrial maintenance role.
  • Strong troubleshooting mindset and the ability to diagnose issues methodically under time pressure.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Familiarity with PLC troubleshooting and PLC control systems.
  • Ability to follow detailed cleaning and contamination-control procedures for clothing and personal items.
  • Willingness to work any shift as needed, including 1st (7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.), 2nd (3:00 p.m.–11:30 p.m.), or 3rd (11:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.), with an immediate need on 2nd shift.
  • Strong attention to safety, cleanliness, and quality standards in a production setting.
  • Good communication skills to coordinate with production staff and maintenance teammates.

Work Environment

The facility operates multiple shifts, including 1st shift (7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.), 2nd shift (3:00 p.m.–11:30 p.m.), and 3rd shift (11:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.), with a current opening on 2nd shift. You will work around production machinery, tools, and PLC-controlled equipment, following strict safety and contamination-control procedures. The work is hands-on and can be physically demanding, requiring frequent standing, walking, and lifting of 50 pounds or more in a busy production setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of HORN LAKE, MS.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00/hr.
