Job Summary
The Maintenance Technician II is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing plant equipment and facility systems to support efficient production and operations. This role plays a key part in reducing downtime through preventative maintenance, corrective repairs, and emergency response while ensuring equipment operates safely and effectively. The technician will also assist with operational equipment support, seasonal equipment preparation, and maintaining accurate maintenance records through the CMMS system.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative, corrective, and emergency maintenance on plant equipment and facility systems.
- Complete and document all maintenance work orders using the CMMS system.
- Support daily plant operations by troubleshooting and resolving equipment issues.
- Prepare building and production equipment for seasonal start-up and shutdown activities.
- Train team members on proper maintenance procedures and preventative maintenance schedules (daily, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual).
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and electronic equipment faults and perform repairs as needed.
- Review equipment manuals and identify required parts and maintenance needs.
- Maintain effective communication with plant leadership and operations teams regarding equipment performance and maintenance activities.
- Manage workload independently and prioritize tasks with minimal supervision.
- Work flexible schedules, including days, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
- Participate in ongoing technical training and development opportunities.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 3 years of maintenance experience in an industrial or food manufacturing environment preferred.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting experience, including gearboxes, motors, bearings, and related industrial systems.
- Formal industrial maintenance training or equivalent hands-on experience required.
- Experience with ammonia refrigeration, HVAC systems, industrial ice machines, and boiler systems is preferred.
- PLC programming or troubleshooting experience, specifically with Allen Bradley systems, is a plus.
- Strong communication and computer skills required.
- Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced production environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, squat, push, pull, reach, and lift throughout the shift.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly, with heavier lifting on occasion.
- Willingness to travel between facilities as needed and attend required training sessions.
Work Environment
- Ability to work in varying temperatures and environments, including refrigerated areas (32–40°F), indoor production spaces, and outdoor conditions.
- Must be comfortable working in a manufacturing/industrial setting with exposure to machinery and equipment.
