JOB TITLE Maintenance Tech nician REPORTS TO Facilities Director Job Summary The Maintenance Technician plays a vital role in the upkeep and operation of the Animal Defense League’s facilities. This position is responsible for maintaining buildings, property, and utility systems, performing a variety of repair and maintenance tasks, and addressing issues before they escalate. Duties include landscaping and gardening, minor plumbing, electrical, and HVAC repairs, as well as moving and loading supplies. The ideal candidate will work independently while adhering to all health and safety guidelines to ensure a well -maintained and functional facility. Duties and R esponsibilities 1. Perform routine maintenance, including minor structural repairs (e.g., windows, doors, walls). 2. Conduct minor plumbing repairs to prevent leaks and restore water fixture functionality. 3. Replace light bulbs, ballasts, and perform other minor electrical work. 4. Change HVAC filters to maintain proper climate control. 5. Apply preventative measures to buildings and components to reduce future issues. 6. Identify and address potential safety hazards as directed. 7. Assist with painting buildings when necessary. 8. Perform trash pickup and general groundskeeping, including occasional grass cutting. 9. Lift up to 40 lbs and climb a one -story ladder as needed. 10. Complete maintenance requests assigned by the foreman. 11. Survey buildings and grounds for necessary repairs or upkeep. 12. Properly use and maintain tools, supplies, equipment, and vehicles. 13. Assist with setup, teardown, and cleanup for ADL events. 14. Support and supervise group volunteer projects. 15. Provide supervision for Community Service participants as required. 16. Aid other departments as needed. 17. Maintain a professional appearance and behavior that aligns with ADL’s mission and values. Qualifications 1. Must be at least a high school graduate and possess a valid driver’s license . 2. 3 yrs referenceable e xperience in general mainte nance/support position required. 3. Knowledge of small engine repair highly desired. 4. Must be in good physical condition, able to sustain demanding manual labor . 5. Certification related to the field a plus , for example : a. HVAC or utilities certifications , electrical or plumbin. b. Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification Working C onditions This position requires working both indoors and outdoors in all weather; contact with associated chemicals , cleaners , solvents, and fuels ; contact with animals in residence , many with unpredictable behavior ; exposure to the noise , waste, and odor associated with animal shelter populations. Physical R equirements This position requires good physical health and conditioning, and may require: standing for extended periods; lifting or moving of heavy objects; repetitive tasks with few breaks; long hours; and other physical demands associated with heavy manual labor. Direct R eports This position does not have any direct reports. Wages & Benefits This is an hourly, ful l-time position. Wages are commensurate with experience and range from $12/$15 per hour .
