Job Title: Maintenance Technician – 2nd Shift
Job Description

This Maintenance Technician role supports a growing, family-owned manufacturing business that specializes in designing and producing custom cast aluminum components. Working on 2nd shift in Athens, AL, you will assist the lead maintenance technician with mechanical and electrical maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting to keep production equipment running safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Support the main maintenance technician on 2nd shift with day-to-day maintenance activities across the facility.
  • Perform mechanical maintenance and repairs on production and support equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including working with 480V components, in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair hydraulic systems to ensure reliable operation of equipment.
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair pneumatic systems, including valves, lines, and related components.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on machines and equipment according to established schedules and procedures.
  • Use blueprints, diagrams, and technical documentation to diagnose issues and plan effective repairs.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns, identify root causes, and implement timely corrective actions.
  • Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage accurately to support ongoing reliability and planning.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to identify recurring issues and recommend improvements.
  • Follow all safety procedures and best practices when working with mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
  • Assist with installation, setup, and service of new or modified equipment as needed during the 2nd shift.
  • Support a high-volume manufacturing environment by working extended hours as needed to meet operational demands.
Essential Skills
  • Proven mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience working as a maintenance technician or in a similar maintenance role.
  • Strong mechanical skills, including the ability to diagnose and repair mechanical issues on production equipment.
  • Experience working with 480V electrical systems, including safe troubleshooting and repair practices.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulics, including troubleshooting and repair of hydraulic components and systems.
  • Working knowledge of pneumatics, including troubleshooting and repair of pneumatic components and systems.
  • Ability to perform preventive maintenance and maintenance repair tasks in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting skills across electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Willingness and ability to work 2nd shift hours from 6:00 pm to 4:30 am.
  • Ability to work 50 to 60 hours per week, including overtime as required by production needs.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Background in mechanical fields or mechanical qualification is beneficial.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment, particularly with cast or metal components, is a plus.
  • Familiarity with service and repair practices for industrial machinery and equipment.
  • Experience performing preventive maintenance programs in a production facility.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with other technicians, production staff, and leadership.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while supporting a lead maintenance technician.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to performing safe, high-quality work.

Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing facility in Athens, AL, specializing in the design, engineering, and production of custom OEM aluminum castings. You will work on 2nd shift, typically from 6:00 pm to 4:30 am, with a workweek of approximately 50 to 60 hours, which may include overtime to support production demands. The environment involves working around industrial machinery, cast aluminum components, and related equipment that rely on mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and 480V electrical systems. You will use tools and equipment for troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance, as well as reference blueprints and technical documents. Expect a hands-on, fast-paced setting where safety procedures and appropriate work attire suitable for an industrial manufacturing environment are essential.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Athens, AL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr.
