What You Will Be Doing:

Install, maintain, and repair all facility plumbing at the Spring Creek Correctional Center in accordance with the Uniform Plumbing Code and local plumbing code. Properly select and perform work at a professional level with steel, stainless steel, copper, brass, cast iron pipe and composting materials. Provide assistance to other maintenance staff, and perform other duties as assigned.

Spring Creek Correctional Center is a maximum-security state operated adult correctional institution that has a capacity of over 500 male inmates and employs approximately 200 staff. While much of Spring Creek's inmate population serve long term sentences, we also house prisoners serving shorter sentences.

We are interested in candidates who possess some or all of the following position specific competencies:

• Architecture: Knowledge of the concepts, principles, theories, and practices used in the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of buildings or other structures, taking into consideration aesthetic and functional concerns
• Plumbing and Pipefitting: Knowledge of materials, methods, and the appropriate tools to install, maintain, or repair pipelines, pipe systems, and fixtures, including water, air, steam, gas, chemicals, or sewage.
• Communications Security Management: Knowledge of the principles, policies, and procedures involved in ensuring the security of communications services and data, and in maintaining the communications environment on which it resides

Please be aware – this position requires the use of the Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN)/Alaska Corrections Offender Management System (ACOMS). A security clearance issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) is necessary to use APSIN/ACOMS. DPS will deny security clearance for any applicant who has been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor in this state or another jurisdiction, or who may be a fugitive from justice. Additionally, security clearance will be withdrawn if DPS discovers that material information was falsified or omitted at the time of the initial application for security clearance.
