Lee County is seeking a reliable and hardworking Parks & Recreation Maintenance Worker to help keep our parks, playgrounds, and sports fields safe, clean, and welcoming for everyone. This position will support multiple Parks & Recreation facilities across the county. We are looking for someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in their work, and wants to make a positive difference in the community.


This role is an important part of maintaining the quality and safety of our public spaces. You will help prepare athletic fields, care for landscaping, clean facilities, and support daily activities at our parks. Whether you have experience or are looking to grow your skills, we welcome applicants who are ready to learn and be part of a strong team.

What You Will Do:

  • Prepare athletic fields and courts for play, including weather-related adjustments

  • Clean restrooms and other facilities daily

  • Empty trash cans and pick up litter to keep areas clean and safe

  • Perform landscaping tasks such as mowing, pruning, watering, and planting

  • Inspect playgrounds, buildings, and equipment for safety issues

  • Open and close facilities at assigned times

  • Enter work requests into the AIM system

  • Help youth leagues with permits, Coaches’ Code of Conduct, and basic daily needs

  • Operate hand tools, small equipment, mowers, tractors, and utility vehicles safely

  • Use cleaning supplies responsibly and safely

  • Notice and report equipment problems

  • Perform simple maintenance on tools and small machines

  • Provide friendly, professional customer service to visitors

This job requires basic math skills, the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and work outdoors in all seasons. First Aid and CPR must be completed within six months of hire.

What We’re Looking For

  • High School diploma, GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Six (6) months of maintenance or related work experience

Related experience may include:

  • General maintenance or facility upkeep landscaping, lawn care, or groundskeeping
  • Custodial or janitorial work
  • Work at parks, recreation centers, schools, or sports complexes
  • Outdoor labor or construction helper roles
  • Sports field preparation or turf care
  • Using hand tools or small equipment (mowers, trimmers, blowers, etc.)
  • Customer service roles involving interaction with the public
  • Assisting youth sports leagues or community programs
  • Volunteer work involving outdoor maintenance or clean-up projects
  • Warehouse, laborer, or utility worker roles that involve physical tasks

Additional Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

Required Certifications (within 6 months of hire):

  • First Aid
  • CPR

Work Schedule

  • Full-time, 80 hours bi-weekly
  • Schedule includes variable hours with evenings, Saturdays, and some Sundays
