The Senior Maintenance Specialist is responsible for the general maintenance, development, and care of over 100,000 square feet of space in the Aquatic and Recreation Center and the equipment and University assets assigned to the Campus Recreation department. The position will conduct regular inspections, perform preventative maintenance and repairs, coordinate and oversee work of contractors, prepare for events, respond to work orders, and work with departmental staff to identify, prioritize and complete projects. Responsible for maintaining water quality, filtration and sanitation for the recreation pool and spa.
Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain Campus Recreation Assets:
Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on the Aquatic and Recreation Center building features, departmental equipment and University assets assigned to the Campus Recreation Department. Recommend repairs, develop the scope for projects, coordinate and oversee the work of contractors, and work with other departments to ensure all work orders are completed. Ensure all equipment, golf cart, and tools are maintained and repaired. Perform scheduled maintenance of over 100 pieces of fitness equipment to ensure safety and quick return to service. Perform work in a safe and efficient manner.
Aquatic Facility Maintenance:
Work with Campus Recreation staff to maintain proper water chemistry and sanitation for the UTC recreational pool and spas. Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on aquatic equipment. Complete the maintenance and operations checklists for daily, weekly and monthly maintenance needs.
Inspections and Documentation:
Responsible for conducting regular inspections, documenting preventative maintenance and repairs, developing scopes for projects, working with departmental staff to identify, prioritize and complete projects. Manage all inter- and intra- departmental work orders. Utilize campus and departmental software to track and document projects and repairs.
Budgetary Responsibility:
Prepare short and long-range budget data. Perform ordering and receiving of parts for fitness equipment, departmental equipment, building features and other departmental assets. Complete record keeping for purchases and projects. Ensure all purchasing protocols are followed.
Departmental Responsibility:
The ARC Maintenance Specialist works with all UTC Campus Recreation professional staff to advance the department's vision, mission, core values, and strategic plan. This includes active participation in Campus Recreation and UTC campaigns, initiatives and projects.
