Elayn Hunt Correctional Center is seeking a skilled and dependable Maintenance Repairer to join our facility operations team. This role is essential to ensuring the safety, functionality, and upkeep of the institution. The ideal candidate is hands-on, adaptable, and capable of performing a wide range of maintenance and repair tasks in a secure correctional environment.

Completion of a two-year vocational technical program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering; OR

Twelve semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses.The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found here.

Job Duties:

As a Maintenance Repairer 2, you will play an essential role in maintaining the safety, functionality, and appearance of facilities by performing a variety of skilled maintenance and repair tasks. In this role, you will:

  • Perform general maintenance and repairs on facility structures, equipment, and systems
  • Assist with carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, and HVAC-related tasks as needed
  • Conduct routine inspections to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns
  • Operate and maintain tools, machinery, and equipment safely and effectively
  • Respond to work orders and maintenance requests in a timely manner
  • Follow all security protocols and work collaboratively with correctional staff
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, materials used, and completed tasks

  • This position is a ‘when actually employed’ (WAE) position without benefits.
