Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic
Job Description

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and improvement of plant equipment, tools, and machinery in an industrial manufacturing environment. This role focuses on welding and fabrication of steel mold components, mechanical troubleshooting of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and ensuring production equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably to support continuous manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and repair on a wide range of equipment, tools, and machinery as assigned by maintenance leadership.
  • Make repairs and adjustments to machinery and assist in dismantling all or parts of machinery to repair or replace defective components.
  • Operate shop tools, equipment, and various machines related to maintenance within the limits of current skill level.
  • Perform portions of repairs to power industrial equipment and assist in the rebuilding of related equipment.
  • Assist in the installation and commissioning of new plant equipment.
  • Maintain production equipment in good operating condition to optimize uptime and ensure the safe and timely manufacture of quality coatings.
  • Improve the reliability, performance, and operating efficiency of plant equipment through effective maintenance practices.
  • Perform maintenance activities on programmable logic controller (PLC) based equipment as required.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, process sheets, and assembly schematic drawings to diagnose and repair equipment.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance tasks on equipment in a timely manner to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Support and participate in housekeeping and safety programs, maintaining a clean, orderly, and safe work area.
  • Use welding and fabrication skills to repair and fabricate pieces for steel molds and other components as needed.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues involving hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, engines, and conveyor systems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on conveyor systems to minimize downtime.
  • Participate in the completion of other related tasks and duties as directed or needed to support plant operations.
Essential Skills
  • 2–4+ years of professional maintenance and fabrication experience in a manufacturing or construction environment.
  • Proficiency in welding and fabrication, including stick and wire feed welding, to repair and fabricate steel components and molds.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills, particularly with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Hands-on experience performing preventive maintenance and repairs on conveyor systems.
  • Ability to perform maintenance on programmable logic controller (PLC) based equipment at a basic to intermediate level.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, process sheets, and assembly schematic drawings.
  • Experience with equipment maintenance and repair, including power industrial equipment, forklifts, engines, and gearboxes.
  • Proficient use of hand tools and shop tools commonly used in mechanical maintenance and fabrication.
  • Basic hydraulic and pneumatic knowledge sufficient to diagnose and resolve system issues.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively with team members.
  • Ability to work overtime with or without reasonable accommodation as operational needs require.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in an industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to production equipment and coatings or similar processes.
  • Background in construction or heavy industrial settings that involved mechanical maintenance and fabrication.
  • Familiarity with maintenance best practices focused on improving equipment reliability and uptime.
  • Comfort working with conveyor systems, gearboxes, and engine repair in a plant environment.
  • Ability to contribute to continuous improvement efforts related to equipment performance and safety.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to performing quality repairs and fabrications.

Work Environment

This role operates in an industrial manufacturing environment that is open to current weather conditions, requiring comfort working in varying temperatures and environmental factors typical of a plant setting. The position follows a day shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Work involves regular use of shop tools, welding equipment, hand tools, and machinery associated with mechanical maintenance and fabrication. The environment emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and adherence to established procedures while performing physical tasks such as equipment repairs, installations, and preventive maintenance.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of WILSONVILLE, OR.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00/hr.
