Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic III

Job Description

The Maintenance Mechanic III is a highly experienced-level role responsible for installing, modifying, designing, maintaining, and repairing mechanical and electrical equipment and machinery in a high-volume manufacturing environment. Working under minimal supervision, this position takes a lead role in troubleshooting and repairing production and facility systems, including pneumatic, electrical, vacuum, furnace, and building support equipment. The role combines hands-on mechanical and electrical work with PLC/controls troubleshooting to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all assigned equipment and facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the diagnosis and repair of all assigned production and facility equipment with minimal supervision, working independently or as part of a team.
  • Perform installation, modification, maintenance, and repair of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, vacuum, and related systems used in manufacturing and building operations.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance (PM) on production equipment and facility systems to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Troubleshoot furnace operations and related systems using Siemens PLC hardware and software, ensuring safe and reliable operation.
  • Use mechanical, electrical, and PLC/controls skills to maintain the safe and efficient operation of assigned equipment.
  • Identify, implement, and exercise independent judgment within established guidelines when addressing on-shift issues affecting production operations or facility safety.
  • Support light maintenance of buildings and grounds to maintain functionality and safety of the overall facility.
  • Serve as a point of contact for junior maintenance personnel, helping to direct Maintenance Mechanic I staff and others to stay on task and complete assigned work from established task lists.
  • Utilize digital multimeters and other test equipment to troubleshoot electrical systems, including 3-phase and 480V circuits.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation to diagnose issues and complete repairs or modifications.
  • Troubleshoot and repair semi-automated and fully automated production equipment as issues arise.
  • Prioritize and manage changing tasks and duties in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Collaborate effectively with production, engineering, and other maintenance team members to support continuous, reliable operations.
  • Document maintenance activities as required, following established procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support production operations and facility reliability.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the maintenance of pneumatic, electrical, vacuum, or mechanical systems in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • For Level III, 7+ years of progressively advancing applied technical experience as a mechanic or electrical/controls/electronics/automation technician in a manufacturing environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven experience troubleshooting and repairing semi-automated and fully automated equipment.
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience troubleshooting production equipment using Siemens PLC hardware and software.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electrical equipment and machinery.
  • Ability to fully utilize a digital multimeter (DMM) and related test instruments for troubleshooting electrical systems, including 3-phase and 480V circuits.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Demonstrated ability to observe, analyze, interpret situations, and solve problems involving mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English in both written and oral form.
  • Ability to prioritize and adapt to changing tasks and duties in a dynamic production environment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and other departments.
  • Some technical training or coursework in industrial equipment engineering, industrial maintenance, or industrial electronics/controls/automation through a technical school or trade experience is highly desired.
  • Equivalent combinations of education, experience, and knowledge may substitute for up to 3 years of manufacturing/production technical experience.
  • Two years of previous technical training or coursework in industrial maintenance or industrial electronics/controls/automation from a technical school (certificate or diploma) may be credited as two years of work experience.
  • Eligibility to work in an ITAR-compliant facility in accordance with applicable regulations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with furnace systems and vacuum equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • Expereince in facility maintenance, including HVAC, building systems, and general repair.
  • Experience with corrective and preventive maintenance programs (PM and CM) in an industrial setting.
  • Familiarity with welding and basic fabrication for equipment repair and modification.
  • Experience using multimeters, volt meters, and other diagnostic tools to troubleshoot electrical issues.
  • Exposure to service, rebuild, and overhaul of mechanical and electro-mechanical equipment.
  • Experience gained through military technical roles (such as navy, army, or marines) in mechanical, electrical, or electronics maintenance is highly applicable.
  • Comfort working with schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation for complex equipment.
  • Strong service-oriented mindset with a focus on supporting production uptime and safety.

Work Environment

Work takes place in an industrial manufacturing plant that utilizes state-of-the-art metal injection molding (MIM) technology to produce high-performing, small precision metal components at high volumes and varying levels of complexity. The role is hands-on and shop-floor based, working around production machinery, furnaces, vacuum systems, and facility equipment. Candidates must be comfortable in a manufacturing environment with industrial noise, machinery, and standard plant safety practices. Multiple shifts are available, with initial training conducted on a day shift schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Ongoing operations may be on swing shift (Monday through Friday, 12:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.) or graveyard shift (Monday through Friday, 7:30 p.m. to 4:00 a.m., with the last shift ending Saturday morning). The position requires adherence to all safety procedures and the use of appropriate personal protective equipment typical for an industrial plant setting.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $38.00/hr.
