Maintenance Mechanic

Job Description:

Under supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, the apprentice responsibilities include maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the shop, picking up parts, repair and maintenance of tools and equipment, and assisting the maintenance mechanics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shop and work areas
• Assist maintenance mechanics with repairs and preventive maintenance
• Pick up, transport, and organize parts and supplies
• Perform basic repair and maintenance of tools and equipment
• Operate tools and equipment as directed
• Follow all safety policies and Code of Safe Work Practices

Qualifications & Skills:

• Ability to speak, read, and write English
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
• Basic math skills
• Mechanically inclined with willingness to learn
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Professional communication with coworkers, vendors, contractors, and clients

Physical Requirements:

• Medically cleared (post-offer, pre-employment) to perform job duties
• Ability to lift up to 55 lbs; heavier loads with mechanical assistance
• Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, push, pull, and reach overhead
• Ability to stand and walk 6–10 hours per day
• Ability to safely use ladders and work platforms
• Correctable vision and hearing required
• Must comply with Drug & Alcohol Free Workplace policies
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record as required

Work Environment:

• Frequently works outdoors in varying weather conditions
• May work in cellar or industrial environments
• Exposure to equipment, tools, and materials requiring appropriate safety protection
