Job Title: Direct Hire Maintenance Mechanic

Job Description

This role focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial production equipment, with a strong emphasis on punch presses and other high-speed manufacturing machinery. You will ensure equipment runs safely and efficiently by performing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic maintenance, as well as preventive maintenance and repairs.

Shift: 10pm-630am M-F

Pay: based off skills, up to $80k per year (plus bonuses etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues on production equipment, including punch presses and related machinery.
  • Perform repairs on punch presses, rewinding machines, interfolding machines, thermoforming machines, and other industrial equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance to keep equipment running safely, reliably, and at optimal performance.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to diagnose issues and complete repairs accurately.
  • Use PLC troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve control and automation-related problems.
  • Perform welding and fabrication tasks as needed to support equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Inspect machinery regularly to identify potential issues before they lead to equipment failure.
  • Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used in accordance with facility procedures.
  • Collaborate with other mechanics and production staff to prioritize work orders and support continuous production.
  • Work safely by following all plant safety procedures, lockout/tagout practices, and equipment operating guidelines.
  • Support a fast-paced production environment by responding quickly and effectively to equipment breakdowns and maintenance requests.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience as a maintenance mechanic or maintenance technician in an industrial or fast-paced production environment.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing punch presses or similar metal stamping equipment, or other high-speed production machinery.
  • Strong mechanical skills, including experience with gears, bearings, shafts, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Practical electrical troubleshooting skills for industrial equipment.
  • Experience working with pneumatic systems, including valves, cylinders, and air circuits.
  • Experience working with hydraulic systems, including pumps, hoses, and cylinders.
  • Ability to perform preventive maintenance on industrial machinery.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and mechanical and electrical schematics.
  • Experience with PLC troubleshooting in an industrial setting.
  • Ability to perform maintenance repairs using appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Welding skills sufficient to support equipment repair and maintenance tasks.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in a fast-paced metal stamping environment, particularly with punch presses, is highly beneficial.
  • Experience in any fast-paced production or manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with different levels of maintenance responsibilities, from basic mechanical tasks to advanced electrical and automation work.
  • Comfort working with a variety of industrial machines, including rewinding machines, interfolding machines, and thermoforming machines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team while managing multiple priorities in a production setting.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving equipment issues.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed to support production demands.

Work Environment

This position is based in a busy industrial production facility that operates multiple types of high-speed equipment. There are two openings on third shift, working from 10:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., with overtime available as needed. The site has approximately 65 punch presses ranging from 20–30 tons, along with rewinding machines, interfolding machines, and several thermoforming machines, creating a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The maintenance team is structured into several levels of mechanics (M1, M2, M3, C0, C1), ranging from entry-level mechanical roles to advanced positions with significant electrical and automation responsibilities. You will work on the production floor around running machinery, using standard industrial tools and diagnostic equipment, and you should be comfortable in a manufacturing setting with noise, moving equipment, and hands-on mechanical and electrical work. Appropriate work attire suitable for an industrial maintenance role is expected, with adherence to all safety and personal protective equipment requirements.

The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $80000.00/yr.
