Maintenance Manager
(Food & Beverage Manufacturing)
Location: Minneapolis, MN
Compensation: $115,000 – $130,000 base + 10% bonus
Schedule: Monday – Friday (7:00 AM – ~3:30 PM) + flexibility for nights/weekends as needed
Environment: Union (Teamsters)
Position Overview
Our client, a leading food & beverage manufacturer, is seeking a Maintenance Manager to lead maintenance operations at a high-volume production facility in Minneapolis.
This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for driving equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and developing a strong maintenance team. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with a strong electrical background, experience in food or regulated manufacturing, and a track record of improving maintenance systems and team performance.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and develop a maintenance team of ~13 (including supervisors, coordinator, and technicians)
- Drive preventive and predictive maintenance programs to reduce downtime and extend asset life
- Oversee maintenance operations across key plant equipment including:
- High-speed fillers
- Blow mold machines
- Boilers & refrigeration systems
- Palletizers and production systems
- Serve as escalation point for complex equipment and facility issues
- Optimize CMMS/PMS systems (planning, scheduling, parts, and labor)
- Partner with engineering and plant leadership on equipment upgrades and capital projects
- Manage maintenance budgets, cost reduction initiatives, and spare parts inventory
- Ensure compliance with safety, GMP, and food production standards
- Lead in a union environment, including employee relations and performance management
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of maintenance leadership experience in manufacturing
- Experience leading teams (supervisors/technicians) in a union environment preferred
- Background in food & beverage, dairy, or other regulated manufacturing
- Strong experience with plant equipment (fillers, blow mold, boilers, refrigeration, etc.)
- Electrical-focused background (ideally 60% electrical / 40% mechanical)Motor control systems up to 480V / 3-phase required
- PLC troubleshooting experience (Allen Bradley preferred; programming a plus)
- Experience with CMMS / preventive maintenance systems (SAP, Micromen, etc.)
- Hands-on ammonia refrigeration experience required
- Experience with high-speed manufacturing environments
Required Certifications
- MN 1B Boiler License required (or ability to transfer from another state)
Nice to Have
- Wastewater / environmental systems experience
- HVAC and boiler system expertise
- Experience in dairy manufacturing
- Exposure to high-speed packaging/filling operations
