Position: Mainframe System Programmer / Administrator

Location: Plano, TX (Onsite, 5 days/week)

We are looking for a strong Mainframe System Programmer/Administrator with hands-on experience in infrastructure software implementation and system-level support. This is not a COBOL development role but focuses on system programming and administration within a large-scale enterprise environment.

You will be part of an agile team working on enhancing, designing, and delivering secure, stable, and scalable technology solutions across enterprise platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and support IBM mainframe software
  • Work on infrastructure software implementation and system enhancements
  • Manage and maintain z/OS and related tools
  • Handle system monitoring using Dynatrace
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to modernize technology processes
  • Troubleshoot complex system issues and mitigate risks
  • Drive improvements aligned with compliance, security, and business objectives
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team knowledge sharing

Must Have

  • 5+ years of Mainframe Systems Programming experience
  • Strong expertise in z/OS, JCL, JES, SDSF, VSAM, and system utilities
  • Hands-on experience with CA-7, Control-M/Control-N, and related tools
  • Mandatory experience with SMP/E for software installation and deployment
  • Experience with Dynatrace or similar monitoring tools
  • Strong understanding of system deployment processes
  • Scripting experience (REXX, Unix, Python, or similar)

Preferred

  • Experience working in Agile environments
  • Knowledge of tools like OPS/MVS, ACF2, Thruput Manager, etc.
  • Exposure to Parallel Sysplex and z/OSMF workflows
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
