BULL MOOSE TUBE COMPANY, a progressive organization dedicated to meeting our customers perception of quality, has an opportunity for a Tool Room Machinist at our Elkhart, Indiana manufacturing site.

DUTIES

SUMMARY: Understands and reinforces the Company vision of being the best producer of steel pipe and tube in North America. Performs assigned tasks in a manner reflecting and achieving the Vision consistent with the Company's Core Values: Safety, Integrity, Teamwork, & Growth and Results.

Utilize and operate equipment, material and tools in the inspection and process for maintaining tooling and other mill and slitter components. Complies with all safety, quality, customer focus, preventative maintenance, and housekeeping standards. All other duties as assigned and expected.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the area in which the employee works is regularly exposed to moving mechanical equipment, parts and vibration. The area in which the employee works can be exposed to heat/cold conditions. The noise levels are mitigated by use of PPE hearing protection. The building temperatures vary, ranging from cold in the winter months to temperate summer climes. There is increased exposure to temperature in winter due to open doors.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE): The PPE described here is mandatory while an employee is on the plant floor performing the essential functions of this job. The employee is required to wear at all times-hard hat, safety glasses, metatarsal boots and Kevlar cut-resistant gloves while handling tubing, raw stock, samples, or any sharp objects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand for several hours (up to 8-12 hours); use hands and fingers to manipulate, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to walk, talk or hear; stoop; kneel; and crouch; The employee must regularly lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds; frequently lift and/or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, color recognition, and ability to adjust focus. The essential functions of this classification include performing the following tasks:

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Read and apply micrometer, caliper, gages, and tape measure.
2. Inspect and track tooling, die sets and jaws for all mills to determine the need for regrinds, repair or replacement.
3. Responsible for maintaining tooling racks in the machine shop, in an organized fashion.
4. Ability to read and follow blueprints, sketches, and related technical data to determine tooling requirements.
5. Maintains documents related to tooling (blueprints, sketches, tracking of wear) in an organized fashion.
6. Ability to set up and operate CNC mill and lathe.
7. Ability to set up and operate manual lathe.
8. Ability to set up and operate manual mills.
9. Assists production during changeover where needed.
10. Comply with all Company policies and procedures.
11. Communicate to management and peers any safety, quality, preventative maintenance, or equipment issues.

OTHER ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Certification of completion from a Trade School or 4 years of experience in a machine shop.
2. Must have basic machinist tools.
3. Ability to produce parts from a blueprint.
4. Ability to reverse engineer a particular part and produce it using equipment.
5. Ability to Mig weld.
6. Ability to set-up and run manual mill, lathe and surface grinder.
7. Ability to operate a crane.
8. Ability to pass Basic Blueprint test.
9. Ability to operate a forklift safely.
10. CNC / Lathe knowledge
