Job Description

Join our team as a Machinist where you will bring precision and skill to our machine operations. You will work with a variety of materials such as steel, aluminum, titanium, plastic, and silicon to create high-quality components.

Responsibilities

  • Review electronic or written blueprints or specifications for jobs.
  • Calculate where to cut or bore into workpieces.
  • Determine feed rates and material removal quantities.
  • Select tools and materials, plan cutting and finishing operations, and mark workpieces.
  • Position workpieces on machine tools like drill presses, lathes, or milling machines, set controls, and make cuts.
  • Monitor machine feed rate and speed, ensuring proper lubrication and cooling.
  • Detect issues by identifying specific sounds indicating problems like dull tools or excessive vibration.
  • Adjust cutting speeds to compensate for harmonic vibrations for accurate cuts.
  • Run lathes with up to 50-60 inches of swing and lengths up to 40 feet.
  • Operate mills with spindle diameters of 4-5-6 inches.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency with manual lathes and mills.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Experience in machining and manual machining.
  • Knowledge in lathe and milling operations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience as a CNC Machinist.
  • Experience as a Manual Machinist.
  • Skills in setup and tool changes.

Work Environment

Work in an outdoor, under-cover machine shop. Although it is non-air-conditioned, large industrial fans are in place to maintain airflow and comfort.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tampa, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $37.00/hr.
