Job Title: Machinist 1 - 1st Shift
Job Description

The Machinist 1 is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. This role requires skill in interpreting blueprints, using precision measuring instruments, and operating conventional lathe machines.

Responsibilities

  • Perform proper set-up and running of conventional lathe machines, ensuring the use of tooling associated with the machine.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and specifications to ensure correct specified dimensions and tolerances.
  • Perform turning and threading of materials.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Adhere to local, state, and federal regulations regarding facility maintenance.
Essential Skills
  • 1 year of experience with conventional lathe machines.
  • Experience in setting up and running conventional lathe machines.
  • Proficiency in performing shop mathematics associated with machining.
  • Familiarity with hand tools and precision instruments, such as micrometers and calipers.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and specifications.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Skill in troubleshooting.
  • Experience with drill presses and mechanical operations.
  • Competency in machine operation and machining.

Work Environment

This position operates in a machine shop environment, primarily using conventional lathe machines. Employees are expected to maintain a clean workspace and adhere to safety protocols. The role is on the first shift, allowing for a balanced work-life schedule.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Santa Ana, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
