Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Machinist responsible for operating CNC machines in a job shop setting. The position involves manufacturing complex components with tight tolerances, ranging from small to large, from print to delivery. On-the-job training is available for selected candidates.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced setup operations and adjust machine tools for operations based on provided programs.
• Adjust and check programming for accuracy.
• Operate CNC machine tools to perform complex series of progressive machining operations on a diverse line of work.
• Adjust speeds and feeds during operation as necessary.
• Work from programming instructions, operational data, and machine setup instructions.
• Define and code tool arrangements, material clamping methods, machine calibrations, and console settings for operations such as bore, mill, drill, face, thread, and occasional profiling and contouring.
• Check parts for conformance to specifications.
• May run more than one unit simultaneously.
• Handle multiple setups, offsets, and program edits using G&M codes.
• Complete one-piece jobs from print to finish, including tool changing and maintaining multiple runs.
• Engage in extensive training on setups and machining over an 18-month period for less experienced machinists.

Essential Skills

• 4+ years of experience in print-to-part machining using CNC Mills or Lathes.
• 4+ years of experience in editing or programming G&M codes with controls such as Heidenhain, Siemens, Fanuc, Mazak, or other brands.
• Proficiency in blueprint reading and print-to-part machining.
• Understanding of GD&T to determine if a part can still be machined to specifications.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience machining larger parts weighing 10,000lbs or more.
• Familiarity with Heidenhain or Siemens controls.
• Experience in prototype machining and handling new builds and projects.

Work Environment

The work environment is a job shop manufacturing floor with exposure to oil, dirt, debris, fumes, moving machinery, and occasional high decibels, all within a climate-controlled setting. Personal protective equipment is mandatory. We offer positions on both third shift (Monday to Thursday, 4:15 PM to 4:45 AM with a 16% shift premium) and day shift (Monday to Thursday, 6 AM to 4:30 PM). This role provides the opportunity to work in a large manufacturing facility with state-of-the-art equipment, producing parts for helicopters, naval ships, and large vehicles. The shop builds very large fixtures and components with mills capable of setting up steel that is 20 yards wide and 20 feet deep.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $54080.00 - $70720.00/yr.
