CNC Mill Machinist - 1st Shift - 38/hr! - Direct Placement

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate a 5-axis CNC mill, completing approximately one full setup per shift on average.
  • Perform tool offsets as needed throughout the shift, typically handling 30 to 50 offsets per day.
  • Read and interpret blueprints accurately to determine machining requirements and verify part conformance.
  • Run production for varying lot sizes, typically ranging from 40 to 80 pieces on average.
  • Manage parts with a wide range of cycle times, from 3 minutes to 8 hours, with an average of about 10 minutes per cycle.
  • Work with multiple materials, including stainless steel, titanium, aluminum, and inconel, adjusting tooling and parameters accordingly.
  • Perform G and M code edits on existing programs directly at the machine to optimize performance and ensure part quality.
  • Execute tool changes and verify proper tooling setup to maintain consistent production and minimize downtime.
  • Apply GD&T principles when inspecting parts and verifying dimensional accuracy against engineering drawings.
  • Monitor machine performance and part quality throughout the run, making necessary adjustments to maintain specifications.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all shop safety and operational procedures.

Essential Skills

  • At least 3 years of experience setting up and operating 5-axis CNC mills.
  • At least 3 years of experience reading and interpreting blueprints for precision machining.
  • At least 3 years of experience performing tool offsets independently on CNC mills.
  • At least 3 years of experience performing G and M code edits at the machine.
  • Strong understanding of 5-axis milling processes and machining best practices.
  • Proficiency with tool changes, offsets, and in-process adjustments on CNC equipment.
  • Ability to apply GD&T concepts when inspecting and verifying part features.
  • Experience working with stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, or inconel in a machining environment.
  • Ability to work independently, troubleshoot issues at the machine, and maintain consistent quality and throughput.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with Mazak controls or Mazatrol programming is a plus.
  • Familiarity with machining on newer Mazak models such as i-600, i-700T, and Mazak 300 is beneficial.
  • Experience operating Haas and Okuma machines is an advantage.
  • Comfort working with a range of lot sizes and variable cycle times.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, precision components.

Work Environment

The role is based in a clean, organized, and climate-controlled manufacturing facility designed for precision CNC machining. You will primarily work on newer Mazak machines, including Mazak i-600, Mazak i-700T, and Mazak 300 models, as well as Haas and Okuma equipment. The environment emphasizes modern, well-maintained machinery and an orderly shop floor. Work is performed on a variety of materials such as stainless steel, titanium, aluminum, and inconel. The facility supports a professional, safety-conscious atmosphere where machinists can focus on quality work using advanced CNC technology.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $62400.00 - $72800.00/yr.
