If you are an entry level Machinist looking for an opportunity to grow, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you based in Elk River, MN! In this role, you will operate and adjust a variety of CNC machine tools to perform machining operations on multiple materials. Work to close tolerances and finish specifications using skill, knowledge of machining techniques, and familiarity with CNC operating procedures. 

 

In this role, your responsibilities will be:

  • With some supervision, set up and operate various machines including vertical mills, production porting equipment, grinders, deburring tools, and cleaning equipment.
  • Operate manual lathes, Bridgeport mills, and other production equipment with supervision.
  • With close supervision, edit programs and use existing programs or common routines loaded into PCs.
  • Perform set-ups with minimal supervision on manual machines within acceptable time frames.
  • Work from programming data and set-up instructions that define tool arrangements, work holding methods, and tool settings.
  • Produce parts that meet or exceed department standards on CNC or manual machines.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by recommending methods, equipment, or techniques to improve machine shop operations.

 

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • High school education or GED
  • Post–high school training in machining, blueprint reading, basic CNC operation, and shop math, or one year of machining experience in a production machine shop.
  • Demonstrated ability in shop math.
  • Ability to lift, carry, or maneuver up to 40 pounds.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Ability to use computers and shop reference materials.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States - Sponsorship will not be provided.
