Job Description

The Machine Assembler works in a fabrication environment to build complex equipment from engineering blueprints and drawings. You will collaborate closely with the fabrication team, take direction effectively, and also work independently to solve problems and determine how equipment should be assembled. The position involves some repetitive tasks, but most work is non-repetitive and requires careful attention to detail and sound judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and read blueprints and engineering drawings to determine the proper layout and assembly sequence of equipment.
  • Assemble machines and components in a non-repetitive, non-assembly line environment, ensuring accuracy and quality throughout the build.
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, and other fabrication tools to complete mechanical and basic electrical assembly tasks.
  • Use manual machinery to fabricate parts and fixtures as needed to support the assembly process.
  • Perform basic wiring and electrical connections as required by the assembly specifications.
  • Work closely with the fabrication team, communicate clearly, and take direction to complete work efficiently and safely.
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills by identifying issues during assembly, being observant to details, and determining effective solutions with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow all safety procedures when using tools, equipment, and machinery.
  • Operate forklifts and overhead cranes when needed, if qualified, to move materials and components safely (a plus, not required).

Essential Skills

  • At least 3 years of experience in machine assembly or a closely related role, specifically in non-repetitive, non-assembly line work.
  • Proven ability to interpret and read blueprints and engineering drawings accurately.
  • Strong mechanical assembly skills, including fitting, aligning, and securing components.
  • Proficiency using hand tools and power tools in a fabrication or assembly environment.
  • Ability to utilize fabrication tools and manual machinery to create or modify parts and fixtures.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical principles relevant to machine assembly.
  • Ability to work both as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and observant approach to identifying and resolving assembly issues.
